What Marine Rank Gets A Sword? [Solved]
Well, since 1859, NCOs and SNCOs have been toting around the NCO Sword. It’s mainly for show, but it was given to them by Colonel John Harris - the 6th Commandant - as a way of honoring their leadership in battle. Pretty cool, huh?
Commissioned Officers: These officers are the highest ranking members of the Marine Corps and are responsible for leading and managing all operations. They typically receive a sword upon commissioning as a symbol of their authority.
Non-Commissioned Officers: These officers are responsible for providing guidance and supervision to enlisted personnel, as well as carrying out orders from commissioned officers. They may also receive a sword upon promotion to certain ranks, such as Sergeant Major or Master Gunnery Sergeant.
