Hola, iam Glenn Oharra, Buongiorno.
It’s no secret that the NBA has a long list of players who have been banned from the league. From gambling to drug use, there are a number of reasons why certain players have been given the boot. But what about those who have had their numbers retired? Well, believe it or not, there are actually a few cases where an NBA player’s number has been banned! Crazy, right? Let’s take a look at some of these stories and find out why these numbers were taken off the court for good.
What Number Is Banned In The Nba? [Solved]
No NBA player has ever donned the number 69, which is thought to be off-limits due to its risqué implications; the league has never officially confirmed this. Apparently, when Rodman joined the Dallas Mavericks he asked for 69 but was denied and had to settle for 70.
Donald Sterling: Former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, banned from the NBA in 2014 for making racist comments.
Metta World Peace: Former player for the Los Angeles Lakers, banned from the NBA in 2004 after a violent altercation with another player during a game.
Latrell Sprewell: Former player for the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, banned from the NBA in 1997 after choking his coach during practice.
Tim Donaghy: Former referee for the NBA, banned in 2007 after being found guilty of betting on games he officiated and providing inside information to gamblers.
Roy Tarpley: Former player for the Dallas Mavericks, banned from the NBA in 1995 due to multiple violations of its substance abuse policy.
There have been a few NBA players who have been banned from the league over the years. It’s pretty rare, but it does happen. For instance, in 2019, former Clippers center DeAndre Jordan was banned for violating the league’s anti-drug policy. Yikes! And in 2020, former Lakers guard Javaris Crittenton was banned for pleading guilty to a felony charge of voluntary manslaughter. Talk about a bummer! But overall, most NBA players stay on the right side of the law and don’t get into any trouble that would lead to them being banned from the league.
