Wow, it’s incredible to see that the percent of Long Island’s population that is black has increased so much over the years! According to recent statistics, nearly 10% of Long Islanders are African American. That’s a huge jump from just a few decades ago. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in terms of racial diversity and inclusion. Yay for progress!

It looks like the majority of folks are white (54.7%), followed by Hispanic or Latino (20.5%), Black (20.4%), Asian (12.3%) and other races (8.8%). Plus, there’s a small number of Native Americans and Pacific Islanders too!
